A survivor in the middle of the newly rebuild European quarter!
This incredible house was commissioned by Belgian sculptor Julien Dillens (1849-1904) in 1893.
Like Charles Viaene, (see rue Van Zuylen 40, in Uccle) he was a great admirer of Flemish Renaissance.
The facade consists of two bays and three floors. The windows have retained the original glazing and curved glass.
An elegant carved frieze (by the artist?) adorns the loggia on the first floor.
The typically Flemish stepped gable ends the facade.
The house has well resisted over the years, but perhaps deserves a little paint ...
