Architect(s) and/or artist(s)
  • Van de Velde Henry

Henry Van de Velde signed here, in 1895, at the age of 31, his first personal house.

Art Nouveau style inspired by Anglo-Norman architecture, everything here was designed by the architect and his wife who also designed the gardens.

The facade evokes an English cottage, the three gables with broken lines make it the main feature.

The interior revolves around a skylight that floods the central part of the house.

The Van de Velde lived there for only 5 years, in 1900 they moved to Germany.

Building classified in August 1983 and registered on the indicative list of world heritage in 2008.

The house cannot be visited and is also quite difficult to see from the street.
