Beautiful group of small “Spirou” houses, gathered in a semi-closed area.
Designed by architects Emile and Louis Hoebeke, and built between 1957 and 62, they present all the elements that characterize this style of the 1950s, white painted brick facades, woodwork in natural or colored planks, slightly obliquely flat roofs, large horizontal windows, bright colors for certain decorative elements, small stained glass windows inserted in the concrete and colored ceramic door handles.
There are few good intact examples of these houses left in Brussels, the trend quickly passed, and the new materials, used then, have not always well survived the vagaries of time.
