In the 1950s, under the impetus of the Brussels International Exhibition (Expo 58), a particular style was born, innovative, playful and optimistic.
New materials were introduced, pre-fabricated construction elements were assembled in a very short time.
The Gai savoir school was built in 1957 on these principles; flat single-storey buildings, slanted flat roofs, walls in natural stone and colored bricks.

The set remained in good condition despite some additions, including the replacement of the original frames with large pvc frames.
