Architect Jacques Dupuis built this beautiful modern house for Madame Everaert in 1951, after having found some difficulties with planning authorities who were reluctant to see “out of the ordinary” buildings constructed.
The blind facade, as in many of the architect's creations, plays with geometric shapes.
The front door is surmounted by a very surprising oblique awning, which gives the whole facade its personality.
Constructions of this type are quite rare in Brussels, it is only after Expo 58 that this architecture was able to develop, but did not meet with popular success.
The well-maintained Everaert house remains an important symbol and testimony of this very creative era.
