Remarkable apartment building from the interwar years.

Multi-storey buildings were very popular in the upper middle class, and responded to the lack of housing problem in the 30s.

Designed between 1938 and 1940 by Jean Florian Collin in the modernist style, the Tonneau was built by the young company Etrimo, created by Collin.

It is sometimes indicated that the architect Stanislas Jasinski participated in this design, but no documentary evidence emerged during research carried out by the authors of the book "Architects' Journeys" dedicated to Jasinski.

The building gets its great originality from its cylindrical shape and the pinkish color of the facade.

This building is one of the most famous in architectural history of Brussels.

Listed building since April 2007.
