Architect Paul Cauchie designed this small Modernist house for Mrs Marguerite Scoriels in 1926.

The architect is best known for his exceptional sgraffito, nevertheless this house remains very interesting for its simplicity, and the history that goes with it.

Cauchie only built 4 or 5 houses in his life, but made the most beautiful sgraffito in the capital. He built it in 1926, then added a floor in 1936, with a workshop where he also worked as a painter.

The sgraffito above the ground floor window has been brilliantly restored by Christian de Castellane.
