Architect Joseph Diongre designed this "eccentric" house on behalf of the writer-poet Jef Mennekens in 1927.

The house, also called Withuis (White house), departs quite strongly from the Art Deco codes of the time, to tend towards modernist geometric codes.

Everything here is drawn by the architect's hand, down to the smallest detail.

Note the house number integrated into the ironwork, the monogram of the poet JM in the front door and the name of the house, Withuis, to the left of the entrance.

Later Joseph Diongre was elected to design the Maison de la Radio (INR) place Flagey in 1935. What a long way between these two works! Currently the house, listed in 1985, is awaiting restoration (2021).
