Gustave Strauven

Born June 23, 1878 in Schaerbeek and died March 19, 1919 in Faverges (France)

At 18, he worked for two years on an internship in Victor Horta's office and finished the Hôtel van Eetvelde and the "Maison du Peuple" with his master. After a stay in Switzerland, he returned to Brussels and designed his first houses. His exuberant style and the creativity of his whimsical ironwork are remarkable.

Mobilized during the war, he contracted tuberculosis, and died at the age of 40.
